The Aqua-Data FloStick RC4 water velocity meter is a standalone instrument comprising a velocity probe, wading rod and control unit with display, all in one integrated package. Based on Faraday’s principle of electromagnetic induction, the device provides an accurate, robust and cost-effective solution for measuring water velocity.

It offers clear advantages over ultrasonic and Doppler technologies. This compact all-in-one instrument delivers fast, reliable results without the need for installation, setup or calibration.

Simply take it out of its carrying bag and it is ready to use within seconds.

  • Wider measuring range: from true zero to 2.0 m/s, optionally up to 3 m/s
  • Indicates reverse or saturated flow
  • Exceptional sensitivity, ideal for measurements in very shallow and slow-flowing water
  • Equal accuracy in both clean and dirty water
  • The small probe enables measurements close to the water surface, the channel bed or the pipe wall
  • Unaffected by temperature variations or changes in density or suspended sediment
  • Unique probe design with low susceptibility to fouling caused by river weed or sewer debris
  • No moving parts; maintenance-free
  • Calibrated for life, provided the instrument is handled and cared for properly
  • Accuracy: 2% of full scale; zero stability typically ±30 mm/s
  • Highly visible polyamide enclosure, sealed to IP65, with graphical LCD and encoder interface for easy one-handed measurement and control.
  • Information is displayed using icons or in several user-selectable languages Additional languages are available on request.
  • Integrated data logger with 2,000 timestamped data points, expandable to 14,000 data points

Ideal for:

  • Measurements in aquaculture
  • Local water and river authorities
  • Research
  • Anyone who regularly monitors shallow open waterways or streams
